WHITE PAPER: A Brief History of the Wireless Tablet in Classroom Instruction

eInstruction recently published a White Paper briefly outlining the history of the wireless tablet and its growing role in classroom education. Written by CEO Steve Kaye, this new white paper chronicles the digitizing technology pioneered by GTCO CalComp in the 1990s and the breakthrough development of the innovative SchoolPad in 2001, and describes the many benefits of the revolutionary next-generation Interwrite Mobi™ System released this year.

Read A Brief History of the Wireless Tablet in Classroom Instruction, a white paper by Steve Kaye, CEO of eInstruction.

With the release of the Interwrite Mobi this year, more and more educators are realizing that the Mobi does all if not more than an interactive whiteboard at a fraction of the cost. Just ask any junior high teacher how important it is to be mobile in the classroom!

Clickers in The College Classroom

I found a great blog post from an economics professor at San Diego State University that explains how he is using clickers in his college classes. It is so meaningful to hear how other teachers are using clickers and experiencing success with them.

You'll benefit from reading this blog post if you:
  • Have wondered about assigning a point value to daily clicker questions.
  • Have been curious about using the random student picker and what students think about being called on randomly.
  • Wonder if college students like using clickers in their classes.
  • Are concerned about only asking multiple-choice questions with clickers and are curoius if there are ways around that.
Check it out here... BLOG POST: How I Teach Principles: Clickers

Welcome Our Newest Engaging Technologies Team Member!

Just in case you're not on our mailing list and missed our excited email announcing our newest Engaging Technologies team member - we'd like you to help us welcome Matisha Stanton to Engaging Technologies.

Matisha will be assisting most of the districts in Western Kansas and Western Nebraska with their eInstruction needs. She will also be able to provide AV equipment such as projectors, document cameras, etc. We are really excited to have Matisha on board so that we can more thoroughly cover our expansive territory and provide better assistance to our customers.

In addition to bringing 10 years of elementary classroom experience to the company, Matisha has extensive knowledge of Study Island and will be our company "expert" on incorporating Study Island with CPS clickers. A leader in her building, she has used our products in her classroom, and we are confident that she will be able to provide you product knowledge that comes only from classroom experience!

Matisha was born in California and moved to North Central Kansas where she graduated from Beloit Jr-Sr High School in 1983. She attended business college and worked in business and accounting for 12 years.

In 1995, Matisha went back to school to earn her degree in Elementary Education from Fort Hays State University. She graduated in December 1998 and moved to Garden City, Kansas, in 1999 to take a 4th grade teaching position. Matisha has taught the last 10 years at Holcomb Elementary and joined Engaging Technologies in July.

Matisha still resides in Garden City, Kansas. She is married to Doug and has two sons, Jake and Jarrett. She enjoys spending time with her family, taking family trips, reading, golfing, snow skiing, attending sporting events, and supporting the KSU Wildcats!
"During my 10 years at Holcomb Elementary, I found the love and use for technology in the classroom. I was introduced to several wonderful products from eInstruction and I was soon using them in my classroom. It is because of the passion for technology in the classroom, I decided to make a career change and become an educational consultant for Engaging Technologies."
Matisha's Educational Background
  • BS in Elementary Education (1988) from Fort Hays State University
  • MS in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in ESL (2006) from Newman University

vClicker Mobile Edition cited as "the Next Big Thing!"

Tech and Learningmagazine cited vClicker Mobile Edition as “the Next Big Thing” in their August issue. Click here to check out the full digital version of the magazine, and just "flip" to page 10!

eInstruction's vClicker Mobile Edition allows students to answer questions, turn in homework, take self-paced tests, and even participate in real-time interactive activities and graded assessments without a handheld clicker. Instead of using a handheld clicker, vClicker ME Runs on a Mobile Internet Device (MID), laptop, Smartphone, or other portable device with a compatible Internet browser.

Data is collected and aggregated in real-time from both on-site and off-site students, allowing students and educators in multiple locations to immediately view results.
